On August 10, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially unveiled the Bangalore Metro Yellow Line and laid the foundation stone for the ambitious third phase of the expansion project.
As part of the Bangalore Metro Phase II, the newly opened Yellow Line is 19 km long and connects RV Road (Ragigudda) to Bommasandra with 16 stations along the line. With a total investment of Rs 716 billion, the project connects important business, technology and education hubs including Basavanagudi and Electronic City.
With the opening of the Yellow Line, the Bangalore Metro's operational network extends to over 96 kilometers, serving more commuters and significantly reducing travel times between core residential and industrial areas.
Prime Minister Modi pointed out that the new line will improve the ease of life and work for hundreds of thousands of residents, especially professionals traveling to and from the e-city.
