The Ministry of Transport released national urban passenger volume data for January to July 2026

On August 24, the Ministry of Transport released national urban passenger volume data for January to July 2026. Data shows that in the first seven months, the total number of urban passenger trips nationwide reached 61.60879 billion trips, a year-on-year increase of 2.1%.

By method, public buses and trolleybuses handled 20.81132 billion trips, down 2.6% year-on-year; Taxi city passenger volume was 21.05472 billion trips, up 6.1% year-on-year.

Urban rail transit continues to grow. From January to July 2026, the national urban rail transit passenger volume will reach 19.70138 billion trips, a year-on-year increase of 3.4%. Urban passenger ferry passenger volume was 41.37 million trips, down 4.2% year-on-year.

From the data structure perspective, taxi and urban rail transit passenger volume increased, supporting the total urban passenger volume nationwide; Public buses, trolleybuses, and urban passenger ferries remain in the year-on-year decline range. Relevant data reflect a continued recovery in urban travel demand, while passenger flow performance continues to diverge across different modes of public transportation.
