Rail Transit Exhibition News: On August 28, 2026, the unveiling ceremony of the Beijing Key Laboratory for Intelligent Operation Safety of Urban Rail Transit and the academic forum on existing line renewal and renovation was held. Representatives from industry authorities such as the Municipal Science and Technology Commission, Municipal State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, and Municipal Transportation Commission, as well as industry experts, co-construction units, enterprises, and relevant leaders from Beijing Subway, all participated in the event, marking the official launch of the laboratory.

The laboratory is led by Beijing Subway Company, jointly built with Beijing Jiaotong University and other universities, research institutes, and industrial chain enterprises, and has been approved for project approval by the Beijing Science and Technology Commission and Zhongguancun Management Committee. Relying on 56 years of operational management experience and research accumulated by Beijing Subway, the laboratory will focus on intelligent operation and maintenance of urban rail transit, focusing on technical breakthroughs such as comprehensive collaborative intelligent sensing of facility and equipment status and operational environment, performance evaluation and operation control of facilities and equipment in complex environments, dynamic grading of multi-dimensional coupling risk and precise intelligent prevention and control, and intelligent decision-making and comprehensive scheduling under multi-source data integration.
The laboratory will develop intelligent equipment and systems covering multiple disciplines, prioritizing comprehensive demonstration applications in the Beijing subway to promote the implementation of advanced technological achievements. Its collaborative innovation system covers the entire chain of industry, academia, research, and application. The academic committee is led by Academician Peng Suping, with a core research team of 87 members, forming a tiered research team composed of leading talents, young and middle-aged backbones, and young talents.
On the day of the unveiling, Beijing Subway showcased its technological innovation achievements during the 14th Five-Year Plan period and released three phased achievements: smart station construction, AI construction and planning, and existing line renovation technology. Some technologies have already been applied on pilot routes, achieving phased results in passenger services, equipment fault warning, and emergency response efficiency.
Pan Xiuming, Party Secretary and Chairman of Beijing Subway Corporation, stated that the laboratory will adhere to demand-oriented, application-oriented, sharing-oriented, and talent-oriented approaches, using the laboratory as an innovation hub to enhance overall technological innovation capabilities, promote collaborative innovation through open exchanges, and accelerate the transformation of scientific research achievements, so that technological innovation better serves urban rail transit operations.
At the academic forum on existing line renewal and renovation held on the same day, participating experts held special discussions on areas such as upgrading and renovating standard systems, seamless signal system retrofitting, vehicles, power supply, electromechanical, wiring, and intelligent upgrades, sharing practical experiences in implementing equipment upgrades without shutdown.
Next, the laboratory will tackle key technologies targeting frontline operations and industry needs, promote the transformation of research achievements and industry applications, and open the first batch of research projects. Nationwide, universities and research institutions are seeking solutions in areas such as facility and equipment health management and risk coupling early warning.
