Rail Transit Exhibition News: On August 29, 2026, the Vietnamese railway department received a new batch of D19E diesel locomotives. These locomotives are manufactured by CRRC Ziyang and will be used to enhance railway transport capacity and passenger service levels.
The new batch of D19E diesel locomotives has a maximum operating speed of 120 km/h, uses CAT3512B internal combustion engines and AC-DC electric transmission technology, uses Co-Co axle arrangements, is equipped with six traction motors, and weighs a total of 81 tons with an axle load of 13.5 tons.

Control system: This batch of locomotives uses the G300 control computer system, integrating alarm functions and a digital display interface, supporting data recording, fault diagnosis, and operation information collection, facilitating maintenance and fault analysis.
Cab safety: The cab structure is reinforced, the front area is enhanced with enhanced impact resistance, the driver's console uses FRP/composite materials, the windshield is equipped with electric defrosting, and the windshield wipers are integrated with cleaning functions, improving the working environment and operational safety.
Air compressor: The air compressor has been upgraded from piston type to screw type, reducing vibration and noise to ensure stable air supply to the braking system and auxiliary equipment.
Traction system: Optimized traction motor–axle drive system reduces friction, lowers leakage, and lowers maintenance requirements.
Bogies: The bogie frames use high-strength steel, while ventilation ducts, braking systems, and cooling water pipes are mostly made of stainless steel, enhancing reliability and ease of maintenance.
This batch of locomotives belongs to Procurement Package No. 02 of Vietnam State Railway's "Locomotive Investment Plan Before 2030" and will be used to supplement and enhance railway traction capacity, improve transport efficiency on the north-south trunk line, other domestic lines, and international intermodal operations, and gradually replace some existing locomotives with longer service life and limited capacity.
