Rail Transit Exhibition News The French company Alstom recently officially released the new train MF19 designed for the Paris Metro. The train has passed all tests and is currently in trial operation on Line 10 of the Paris Metro, with the official opening of the plan for this autumn.
In 2019, Alstom signed an agreement with the Paris Region Transport Authority (IdFM) for the delivery of 147 MF19 trains. The train adopts a modular design, divided into 4 trains (146 seats) and 5 trains (122 seats) two configurations, and some vehicles can be equipped with optional cabs.
Autonomous driving technology: Some trains are equipped with GoA4 fully automatic driverless systems to achieve completely unmanned control.
Line Adaptation:
4-train trains (carrying 586 passengers) will serve Lines 3, 10 and 12;
The 5-car train (carrying 592 passengers) will operate on Lines 7, 8 and 13.
According to Alstom, the MF19 train uses 25 percent less energy than existing models through a regenerative braking system and LED lighting technology. In addition, its lightweight body design and upgraded air conditioning system further enhance energy efficiency.
Replacement of older models: The MF77 train, which has been in service since 1978, has been severely aging and will gradually replace the MF19 for transportation duties.
Upgraded passenger experience: The new car is equipped with a dynamic line display, USB charging port and optimized seat layout, which significantly improves comfort and functionality.
The MF19 train has already undergone rigorous tests at a dedicated test centre in Crespin in northern France, including emergency braking, noise control and extreme weather simulations. At present, the trial operation of Line 10 of the Paris Metro focuses on verifying the compatibility of the train with the existing signaling system.
Background: With more than 4 million passengers per day, the renewal of the Paris metro network is a key part of the Paris Region's "2030 Green Transport Plan", which aims to achieve a low-carbon and intelligent transformation through technological upgrades.
