Twenty years ago, on July 28, 2004, Wuhan Metro Line 1 welcomed visitors, and more than 20,000 citizens boarded the train to try it during the trial operation of more than 5 hours. So far, Wuhan has entered the era of rail transit.
In the past 20 years, Wuhan Metro has gradually woven a huge operation network of 12 lines, 486 kilometers and 300 stations from one line, 10 kilometers and 10 stations, and has become one of the world-class metro cities.
More than 50 "iron fans" explored the subway home
On the 27th, Wuhan Metro held an open day with the theme of the 20th anniversary of its opening. At 9:30 a.m., more than 50 subway fans came to the Gutian depot. The vast majority of them are walking into this "subway home" for the first time. Boarding the first online train of Line 1 20 years ago, car A01, staff member Dai Xin played a train broadcast used in 2004, bringing many people's memories back to that year.
"Iron fan" boarded the A01 car and dreamed back to the past
"Iron fans" experience "driving the subway"
The Zhejiang guy gave a special birthday gift
Over the past 20 years, the A01 has operated a total of 1.665 million kilometers, which is equivalent to 41 times around the world. In the past 20 years, it has also completed a "nirvana rebirth" like overhaul, and the interior and exterior of the train have reached the standard of "quasi-new car" in terms of hardware facilities and paint and other decorations.
In the subway simulation cab, Cheng Xiong, the most beautiful public transport driver in the country and the crew leader of Line 1, introduced the driver's work in detail. The "iron fans" sighed that only by approaching them can they truly realize that in addition ......to having excellent skills, they also need to have a "big heart" that is not alarmed.
"Happy 20th birthday to Wuhan Metro!" In the message session, each "iron fan" wrote down his blessings to the Wuhan Metro one by one and posted them on the message board outside the simulated cockpit.
The Guinness Book of Records winners presented a special birthday gift
The participants in the event that day were all "iron fans" who signed up in advance, the oldest was over the age of old, and the youngest had just turned one year old and was still held in the arms of his parents.
Mr. Wen Changzhi participated in the event as a representative of thousands of subway volunteers, and now he is the leader of Line 1 of the Metro Civilization Volunteer Service Corps. At the age of 71 this year, he still insists on taking time to carry out volunteer assistance activities at Xunlimen and other stations every day, and he personally feels the improvement of passengers' civilization and literacy. "In the past, there would be people grabbing and grabbing, and we had to discourage it, but now this kind of behavior is becoming less and less, and when there are people with large luggage, passengers also take the initiative to help each other."
In 2016, Feng Wenjie, a young man from Zhejiang, came to Wuhan from Jiaxing to attend university, and since then he has developed a strong interest in the subway. In recent years, he has completed more than 1,000 paper rolling stock models of 503 types and has also been certified by the Guinness Book of World Records. This time, he made a "birthday version" of the train paper model for Line 1 as a gift to the Wuhan Metro. The model is about 14 centimeters long, the size of a real car, and is housed in an acrylic box, which is very realistic.
Wu Yufeng, a prospective high school student who lives in Ezhou, Hubei Province, used his break time to personally visit all the lines of the Wuhan Metro, and made a timetable for the last train to post on social platforms, attracting tens of thousands of netizens to praise "practical" and "caring". On the same day, he set off from his home at 6 a.m. and took several subway trips to the event site.
The first station attendants have been working for more than 20 years
Hu Haihong, who is currently the manager of the third and fourth line management departments of the second passenger transport center of Wuhan Metro Operating Company, was the first stationmaster on duty at Sanyang Road Station of Line 1 20 years ago. At the beginning of 2003, Hu Haihong, together with a group of colleagues who had been transferred from the Road and Bridge Center, came to a new and unfamiliar rail transit industry from the toll center. In March of that year, according to the company's arrangement, they went to the Beijing subway to learn about ticket sales, passenger service and team management. After returning, she was stationed at the Sanyang Road station, where there was no water and electricity, until July 28 of the following year, when it opened for operation, welcoming the first wave of passengers.
At the end of 2012, Line 2, the first subway crossing the Yangtze River in China and the first subway in Wuhan in the real sense, was opened, and the daily passenger flow of Optics Valley Square Station exceeded 100,000 on the same day, far exceeding the designed passenger flow of 35,000 people, making it the largest station in the whole line. During that time, Hu Haihong, as the person in charge of the Optics Valley station area, summarized the characteristics of passenger flow and refined the passenger transportation organization plan with a number of stationmasters on duty every day...... In the face of the normalization of large passenger flow, she also took the lead in the production of the "Station Passenger Flow Map" and the "Large Passenger Flow Task Card", and the station set a record of 294,000 daily passenger volumes, which has not been surpassed by other stations.
Today, the passenger flow at Optics Valley Station has long since returned to normal values, and the nickname "Center of the Universe" is rarely mentioned anymore. Recalling this unforgettable experience, Hu Haihong said that the decrease in passenger flow at one station in Optics Valley reflects the increasingly dense network of Wuhan subway lines, the steady increase in overall passenger flow, and the increasingly important role of public transportation.
It has carried more than 10.1 billion passengers
On July 28, 2004, the first phase of Wuhan Rail Transit Line 1 was opened on the site of the Jinghan Railway. Because the platforms along the line were crowded with early adopters, the first train had to leave 15 minutes earlier.
At that time, Line 1 was only 10.234 kilometers long, with 10 stations from Zongguan to Huangpu Road, which was called the "sightseeing line" by many people. On the first day, it took more than 5 hours to open, attracting more than 20,000 citizens.
"At that time, everyone went to see the strange, and very few people actually took the subway to commute to work." Liu Xin, a 43-year-old citizen of Wuhan, was one of the first passengers of Line 1 that year, and although she lived near the stations along the line, she still traveled by bus for a long time.
After 20 years of development, Wuhan Metro has an operating mileage of 486 kilometers and 300 stations, covering all urban areas, and its operating scale has long ranked among the top 10 in the world, ranking among the world's top 10 metro cities.
The accessibility of the subway has not only brought profound changes to urban development and people's lives, but also reflected the evolution of the public transportation pattern. Liu Xin said: "Now when you go out, you must take the subway first, and it is convenient to go anywhere." ”
Data shows that the average time spent by Wuhan residents on the subway is about 35 minutes a day. It can be said that the subway transforms the distance of urban space into a precise time distance, and gradually develops into the backbone of the city's transportation force. The travel radius of Wuhan citizens continues to expand, and the mode of travel has also changed. Up to now, Wuhan Metro has carried more than 10.1 billion passengers in the past 20 years.
