Recently, the Beijing Municipal Office of High-level Autonomous Driving issued a notice on the autonomous vehicle test road and test area in the policy pilot zone, clarifying the scope of autonomous driving test between Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone (hereinafter referred to as Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone) and Beijing South Railway Station. With the expansion of the 3.0 phase of the Beijing High-level Autonomous Driving Demonstration Zone (hereinafter referred to as the "Demonstration Zone"), another new scenario has been unlocked, and the first autonomous driving test of Beijing's high-speed rail station has been officially opened.
What are the advantages of Beijing South Railway Station?
Beijing South Railway Station is a modern large-scale comprehensive transportation hub integrating five modes of transportation, including railway, subway, urban railway, bus and taxi, serving Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, connecting Shanghai, Nanjing and Hangzhou, connecting Anhui, Jiangxi and Fujian, with an average daily passenger flow of nearly 300,000 person-times. Based on the comprehensive consideration of the location traffic situation and the travel needs of citizens, the demonstration area and the Municipal Traffic Management Bureau, the Municipal Urban Management Committee, the Capital Group and other relevant management units finally established two autonomous driving test roads with a two-way driving distance of 32 kilometers and 58.6 kilometers respectively, passing through Boda Road - South Fourth Ring Road - Majiapu West Road, South Fifth Ring Road - Jingkai Expressway - South Third Ring Road and Third Ring Road Auxiliary RoadAt the same time, the surrounding 2.2 square kilometers of test supporting area will be demarcated, and special parking spaces for autonomous driving will be arranged in the three-dimensional parking building of Beijing South Railway Station.
The "five stations and two fields" connection is the key scene created by the construction of the 3.0 phase expansion of the demonstration area, which is the five key railway hub passenger stations such as Beijing South Railway Station, Fengtai Station, Chaoyang Station, Qinghe Station, and City Sub-center Station, as well as Daxing International Airport and Capital International Airport. At present, Daxing Airport has opened up normalized autonomous driving connections, with 40 vehicles from 4 companies, including Radish Capacity, Pony.ai, WeRide, and Antu Zhixing, with a cumulative test mileage of more than 220,000 kilometers, and stable operation.
In the next step, the demonstration zone will cooperate with relevant enterprises to promote the road testing of autonomous vehicles that have been qualified for highway testing in the pilot zone, and it is expected that new transportation options will be available for passengers by the end of the year. At that time, passengers can make an appointment through the enterprise travel service app, get on and off at any autonomous driving shuttle station in the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone, and travel to and from Beijing South Railway Station according to the established connection route, so as to enjoy the convenience and efficiency brought by autonomous driving to daily life.
