Rail Transit Exhibition News Azerbaijan's Baku Metro (Baku Metro) is actively promoting international cooperation and plans to select a new generation of metro train suppliers from railway manufacturers in the Czech Republic, Switzerland and China.

According to previous news, the Baku metro is in partnership with Škoda (Czech Republic), Stadler (Switzerland) and oneChina's state-owned railway manufacturing enterprises negotiate. Aydin Bakirov, chief engineer of the Baku Metro , confirmed that the new trains will be equipped with advanced control systems and improved body structures to improve operational efficiency. At present, the relevant contracts will be officially signed after the technical and financial evaluation is completed.
Bakirov said that cooperation with top international suppliers will help the Baku Metro introduce a more innovative vehicle maintenance and passenger service system to support the modern operation of the metro system.
According to the plan, by 2030, the Baku metro will introduce 120 new generation vehicles, when the total operating volume will reach 300 units. There are currently 180 vehicles in service in the system, of which 165 are 81-765.B / 766.B, and 15 more 81-760B / 761B / 763B Type.
To date, all trains in the Baku Metro are produced by the Russian company Metrovagonmash (part of the TMH Group). In the last two years, the company has delivered 50 trains and plans to deliver more by the end of 202515 vehicles。 These trains are known for their smooth acceleration, good ventilation and energy-saving performance.
Baku Metro pointed out that the bidding aims to diversify supply sources and choose between European and Chinese manufacturers, which will effectively reduce operational risks, improve product quality, and deepen global cooperation. At the same time, the subway company also plans to introduce digital diagnostics and predictive maintenance systems in the future to achieve more efficient asset management.
Industry experts believe that if the Baku Metro can combine European standards with Asian technology, It will set a new model for the sustainable modernization of transport infrastructure.
