Leung Chun-ying, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultat

Recently, Leung Chun-ying, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and Chairman of the Hong Kong Sharing Foundation, visited Kazakhstan to investigate the Astana Light Rail project. Chen Yingning, Secretary-General of the Hong Kong Sharing Foundation, accompanied the visit, and representatives from Central Asia Company, a subsidiary of Tianjin Rail Transit Group, accompanied the entire trip.

At the Bayjerek Observation Tower station on the Astana Light Rail, Leung Chun-ying listened to a report from Ye Pengjun, Executive General Manager of Central Asia Company of Tianjin Rail Transit Group, regarding project construction, operational support, and the advancement of Phase II. He also took a train ride to experience the quality, traffic efficiency, and maintenance service level of the project, gaining a detailed understanding of the project's effectiveness and livelihood benefits.

Leung Chun-ying fully affirmed the achievements of the Astana light rail project and highly praised Tianjin Rail Transit Group for actively participating in overseas rail transit project construction and operation markets, supporting local development in Kazakhstan. He stated that the Astana Light Rail is a landmark achievement of China-Kazakhstan friendship and pragmatic cooperation, and he hopes Chinese companies will continue to leverage their advantages in technology, construction, and operation to advance the second phase of the project to high standards, enhance the overseas brand of Chinese rail transit, and inject lasting momentum into economic and trade exchanges, livelihood connectivity, and strategic cooperation between the two countries.

The Astana Light Rail is the first urban rail transit line in Central Asia to fully adopt Chinese standards, Chinese technology, and Chinese equipment. As a state-owned enterprise deeply involved in this project, Tianjin Rail Transit Group leverages years of accumulated experience in rail transit construction, operation, maintenance, and talent cultivation to fully support project implementation, smooth operation, and long-term maintenance. Since Phase I of the project opened for operation on May 16 this year, the operation has remained stable and positive, with an average daily passenger flow exceeding 70,000 and a total passenger volume surpassing 10 million.

Currently, all aspects of the second phase of the project are progressing in an orderly manner, with Tianjin Rail Transit Group participating in related technical services.
