Rail Transit Expo News: On September 10, Zimbabwe's Vice President Constantino Chiwenga continued to advance his investment promotion activities in China. As of that time, five large Chinese companies had expressed interest in investing in Tianjin, and two more planned to meet with them.
The seven corporate meetings are an important part of Chiwinga's business trip to China. Zimbabwe hopes to leverage its partnership with China to introduce investment, technology, and expertise, with a focus on energy, agriculture, transportation infrastructure, pharmaceuticals, and other productive sectors.
In the energy sector, Wang Yuzhi, Vice President of East and Southern Africa at PowerChina, stated that the company is ready to invest in Tianjin in solar and other power projects. PowerChina has previously participated in the construction of Units 7 and 8 of the Wanki Thermal Power Plant in Zimbabwe, as well as projects such as Niabira and Ngaizi. Wang Yuzhi stated that the company hopes to create local jobs and operate in an environment that balances the interests of investors and host countries.

In agriculture, Fu Shuai, Deputy General Manager of Dayu Water Saving Group's International Business Department, stated that the company has already supplied agricultural and irrigation equipment in Zimbabwe and plans to further deepen its layout. The long-term goal is to produce irrigation equipment locally to support Zimbabwe's efforts to add value and industrialize. In 2018, Dayu Water Saving signed an agreement worth $80 million to supply the center's pillar-type and drip irrigation systems.
In the pharmaceutical sector, Beijing biotech company C-Bezoar Pharmaceutical has expressed its willingness to explore investment opportunities in Zimbabwe. The company's business covers traditional Chinese medicine-derived biomedicine, drug research and development, and natural medicinal resources.
In the rail transit sector, China Railway International Group (CRIG) participated in talks with Chiwenga. The group had previously communicated with Zimbabwe regarding the revival of Zimbabwe's railway system. As the international business platform of China Railway Group Corporation Limited, China Railway International Group operates in 39 countries and has participated in projects such as the China-Laos Railway, Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway, and Yajib-Kyrgybha Railway.
Eason Zhang, representative of China Railway International Group, stated that after the meeting, they will further discuss project details with Zimbabwean government departments and promote implementation. This meeting shows that railway revitalization and cooperation in related transportation infrastructure are becoming one of the key topics in China-Tianjina investment cooperation.
