Guangzhou Metro teams up with Singapore's SMRT!

Rail Transit Expo News: On June 3, Guangzhou Metro Group and Singapore's MRT operator SMRT Group signed a strategic cooperation agreement (Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and a Teaming Agreement, jointly establishing the "Guangzhou Metro— The SMRT Rail Transit Joint Innovation Laboratory was inaugurated. The two parties will carry out deep cooperation in areas such as rail transit technology innovation, smart operation and maintenance, talent cultivation, and industrial collaboration, jointly promoting high-quality development of rail transit.

Liu Yanling, Senior Minister of State for the Prime Minister's Office and Ministry of Trade and Industry of Singapore, and Cao Zhongming, Chinese Ambassador to Singapore, attended the event and witnessed the signing of the agreement. Liu Zhicheng, Chairman of Guangzhou Metro Group, and Seah Moon Ming, Chairman of SMRT Group, signed cooperation documents on behalf of both parties.

As the third largest urban rail transit operator in China, Guangzhou Metro has always adhered to an innovation-driven development strategy, continuously advancing smart urban rail construction and constantly improving operational safety and service quality. This collaboration will fully leverage Guangzhou Metro's experience in rail transit construction, operation management, and technological innovation, combined with SMRT's advanced practices in international rail transit operations, to jointly explore new paths for intelligent and digital development of rail transit.

During the event, both parties jointly unveiled the "Guangzhou Metro–SMRT Rail Transit Joint Innovation Laboratory." The laboratory will rely on SMRT Bishan Depot for joint R&D, focusing on technological innovation and achievement transformation in areas such as safe rail transit operation, intelligent equipment maintenance, and artificial intelligence applications, further enhancing system reliability and passenger travel experience.

At the signing ceremony, both sides exchanged souvenirs. Guangzhou Metro presented SMRT with a shield tunneling machine model, symbolizing joint innovation and building the future together; SMRT presented train handrail models to Guangzhou Metro, symbolizing the shared mission of safe operation and passenger service.

Afterwards, the guests toured the SMRT "Depot 4.0" smart vehicle depot and the newly released intelligent train inspection robot. This robot integrates autonomous navigation, dual robotic arms, and artificial intelligence image recognition technology, automatically inspecting key components under the train, enabling early identification of fault hazards and providing strong support for preventive maintenance of rail transit equipment.

In addition to rail transit technology cooperation, both sides are actively promoting coordinated industrial development. Guangzhou Metro Resources Management Company signed a tripartite memorandum of understanding with SMRT's Stellar Lifestyle and the smart fresh-squeezed juice brand IJOOZ, planning to jointly expand overseas markets and explore innovative cooperation models for commercial resource development and operations.

In the future, Guangzhou Metro will take this signing as an opportunity to further deepen exchanges and cooperation with SMRT Group, continuously strengthen technological innovation and international collaboration in rail transit, and contribute to the high-quality development of the rail transit industry.
