On June 3rd, Shenzhen Metro and Huawei officially released the world's first innovative achievement in wireless wireless technology for rail transit, and established a global industry benchmark demonstration site. This achievement targets rail transit vehicle-to-ground communication scenarios, driving the industry toward a new generation of wireless communication architectures with high bandwidth, low latency, and full compatibility.

According to reports, compared with the Wi-Fi 6 and traditional vehicle-to-ground communication solutions widely used in the rail transit industry, the newly released Wi-Fi 7 onboard AP solution achieves improvements in transmission bandwidth, switching latency, link reliability, and heterogeneous device compatibility. Once these technologies are implemented, they can provide more stable on-ground communication capabilities in high-speed train operation scenarios, supporting safe rail transit operations, intelligent maintenance, and subsequent business expansion.

In terms of performance, rail transit lines using Wi-Fi 7 technology can stably guarantee 1000 Mbps bandwidth when trains run at speeds up to 160 km/h. At the same time, this solution can reduce signal switching time to under 30 milliseconds, supports up to 8 links backing up simultaneously, and achieves zero packet loss during signal switching. These capabilities help improve communication continuity and stability during high-speed train operation.

Shenzhen Metro currently operates 634.5 kilometers of distance, with an average daily passenger flow of about 9.08 million, ranking among the top nationwide in both network scale and passenger intensity. With the continuous advancement of intercity railway cross-line interconnection and networked operations, protocol compatibility and efficient collaboration among different lines, projects, and equipment brands have become a common technical challenge in the rail transit industry.

To address this need, Shenzhen Metro and Huawei have launched joint efforts, focusing on breaking through barriers to interoperability between heterogeneous devices and building an independently controllable vehicle-ground communication infrastructure. While ensuring efficient cross-line linkage, the platform also reserves expansion interfaces for AI intelligent analysis and HarmonyOS terminal collaboration, providing foundational capabilities for the safe, reliable, and intelligent upgrade of intercity cross-line operations.

In addition, Wi-Fi 7's high bandwidth, low latency, and highly reliable communication capabilities support high-speed real-time transmission of train equipment operating data, promoting the shift of rail transit operation and maintenance from "post-event repairs" to "proactive early warnings," further improving operational safety and management efficiency.

It is reported that after the Wi-Fi 7 wireless innovation on rail transport vehicles was first implemented in Shenzhen, it will gradually be promoted to more urban rail transit scenarios. In the short term, the plan will prioritize large-scale deployment of new and renovated routes in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and new first-tier cities, as well as rail transit networks in provincial capitals and regional centers; In the long term, it will also expand to comprehensive transportation scenarios such as high-speed rail, airports, and ports, promoting the formation of a new generation of "Wi-Fi 7+5G" dual-network integration wireless infrastructure, supporting future businesses such as autonomous driving and vehicle-road collaboration.

Industry insiders believe that the innovative achievements jointly released by Shenzhen Metro and Huawei provide replicable and scalable practical examples for upgrading wireless communication between vehicles and ground in rail transit, and explore new technological paths for high-quality development of rail transit nationwide.
