On May 20, Shenzhen's first metropolitan (suburban) railway EMU rolled off the production line at the new Dapeng branch yard of the Shenzhen-Huizhou Intercity Railway. This train is the first domestic outbound train to integrate high-speed rail technology with an urban transit-like operation model, with a maximum operating speed of 160 km/h.

The first outward-connecting EMU in China

This vehicle was jointly developed by Shenzhen Metro Group and CRRC Changbeng, uses an AC 25kV power supply system, is equipped with CBTC+CTCS dual-signal signaling, and is equipped with the GOA4 fully automatic driverless system.

Metropolitan (suburban) railway EMUs are divided into two types based on operational scenarios: outbound and internal. The outbound type must meet the physical conditions for operation on both mainline and intercity railways. According to CRRC Long-Term Pass, this train innovatively adopts two flexible formation modes: 8-car and 4-car formation, compatible with intercity and intercity vehicle thresholds, and can dynamically adjust capacity according to passenger flow tides.

The main body of the train uses high-strength aluminum alloy materials, with a design lifespan of 30 years. To meet the needs of bus-like operations, the train's capacity has been increased to 8 people per square meter, efficiently adapting to large passenger flow scenarios.

Intelligent configuration

The train is equipped with a full-system fault prediction and health management system, deeply integrating artificial intelligence and big data technologies, enabling autonomous driving, real-time monitoring, automatic warning, and remote decision-making, and simultaneously equipped with intelligent navigation and ambient dimming functions.

Inside, the car is equipped with wide-pitch soft-cushion seats, large luggage cabinets, and dedicated accessible areas, supporting high-power wireless charging. Equipped with passenger crowd monitoring and abnormal behavior analysis functions, paired with an intelligent health management data system, it can connect and communicate with Shenzhen Metro's ground intelligent system.

Exterior design

The train's exterior features a two-tone paint scheme of Tech Blue and Neon Purple, inspired by Shenzhen's cutting-edge technological style. The body has a streamlined design that is minimalist and sharp.

Line conditions

The Dapeng branch line of the Shenzhen-Huizhou Intercity is 39.387 kilometers long, starting at Longcheng Station in Longgang District and ending at Xinda Station in Dapeng New District. The line has six stations: Longcheng, Pingshan, Yanzihu, Kuichong, Dapeng, and Xinda, with a design speed of 160 km/h.

Currently, the Dapeng branch line of the Shenzhen-Huizhou Intercity has achieved a two-track tunnel breakthrough, and is currently carrying out track laying and installation of conventional electromechanical equipment. After the first train rolls off the line, static and dynamic acceptance will be conducted. After the second train arrives, a one-month on-site type test will be conducted, completing vehicle signal joint debugging and acceptance testing.
