There are 30 cities with 4 or more operating lines and 3 or more transfer stations, accounting for 51.72% of the total number of cities that have opened urban rail transit.

In 2025, the total length of rail transit lines under construction in 40 cities across the country will reach 4,875.45 kilometers, and the cumulative investment in related projects will be 3,923.515 billion yuan. In 2025, a total of 411.416 billion yuan of construction investment will be completed, down 13.38% from the same period last year, and the total annual completed construction investment will continue to decline; In the same period, the investment in vehicle purchase was 24.266 billion yuan, down 2.37% year-on-year. According to the data of 34 cities that can be counted, it is estimated that the total planned investment in 2026 will be about 272.731 billion yuan. Among them, the vehicle purchase investment plan is about 13.953 billion yuan.

By the end of 2025, there are a total of 36 cities with urban rail transit network construction planning projects being implemented, with a total length of 4,525.86 kilometers (excluding projects that have been opened and operated at the end of the statistical period and projects that have been suspended or suspended for 3 consecutive years or more as of the end of the statistical period); The total investment approved for the implementation of construction planning projects was 3,398.154 billion yuan, down 14.28% from the previous year.

In 2025, the development of urban rail transit in China will show a trend of steady expansion of operating scale, stable and correction of construction scale and investment.
