Qingdao's "intelligent manufacturing" light rail carriages went to Chile

Rail Transit Exhibition News Recently, at Qingdao Dagang Pier 7, the giant loading and unloading arm steadily lifted the light rail carriages weighing more than 40 tons and slowly fell onto the deck of the "STARLIMA" freighter. After being supervised by the customs on site, the high-end light rail carriages produced by CRRC Qingdao Sifang Locomotive and Rolling Stock Co., Ltd. set off for Chile and became the "Chinese business card" of local urban mobility.

Since 2021, CRRC Sifang Co., Ltd. has exported 144 light rail cars to Chile in batches, and this batch of 18 light rail cars is the last batch of orders for the project. As a light rail carriage with China's "intelligent manufacturing" hard power, its lightweight body with low-energy traction system not only adapts to Chilean urban traffic scenarios, but also takes into account operational efficiency and ride comfort, and is widely praised in the local area.

In recent years, our country's high-end manufacturing industry has developed rapidly, and subway, light rail and other products have been widely popular in the international market with excellent product quality. However, with the increase in export volumes, these "big guys" of more than 20 meters in a single carriage have brought certain pressure to port transportation and site storage.

"As a very large complete set of equipment, the characteristics of long body length and heavy body bring certain difficulties to the transportation and loading and unloading of light rail carriages, coupled with the very tight export schedule of this batch of goods, which puts forward higher requirements for customs clearance efficiency." Liu Junfeng, marketing manager of Shandong Port Qingdao Port Port Branch, said.

In order to meet the actual needs of enterprises for rapid customs clearance, Qingdao Dagang Customs, a subsidiary of Qingdao Customs, launched a customs clearance service guarantee mechanism for "bulky commodities", sorted out the carriage collection port transportation mode, ship port call plan and port operation process in advance, and cooperated with ports, shipping agents and freight forwarders to open exclusive fast channels.

"We comprehensively use the 'paperless audit + mobile inspection + video surveillance' model to guide enterprises to make good use of facilitation measures such as 'advance declaration' and 'two-step declaration' to ensure that these light rail carriages can be loaded and set sail quickly, safely and efficiently." Zhou Zhongjun, chief of the inspection section of Qingdao Dagang Customs, said.

According to statistics, in 2025, Qingdao Port will supervise the export of railway and tram locomotives worth 4.25 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 1.05 times.
