NT$45.6 billion! Taipei Taoyuan MRT Brown Line officially launched.

According to a news report from the Rail Transit Exhibition , the Taoyuan City Government's Department of Rapid Transit Systems announced today that the basic design of the "Taoyuan Metropolitan Area Mass Rapid Transit System Brown Line" has passed the budget review of the Public Construction Commission of the Executive Yuan. The total budget of NT$ 45.649 billion (approximately RMB 10.125 billion) has been secured, which will accelerate the project bidding process and aim to start construction in the shortest possible time.

Liu Ching-feng, director of the MRT Engineering Bureau, said that the Brown Line is the last kilometer connecting the Taipei-Taoyuan rail transit circle. The MRT Bureau has already conducted public review and completed the preparation of tender documents in advance, which can shorten the bidding process.

The MRT Construction Bureau stated that the Brown Line is approximately 11.38 kilometers long, including 2 elevated stations and 5 underground stations. It runs through the Wanshou Road corridor, which has heavy traffic and undulating terrain. The line passes through school districts including Lung Hwa University of Science and Technology, Ming Chuan University, Shoushan Senior High School, and Guishan Junior High School. The 7 joint development sites planned along the line will also be launched gradually in conjunction with the MRT project.

The MRT Bureau stated that after the Brown Line opens, it will only take about 18 minutes to travel between downtown Taoyuan and Huilong Station in New Taipei City. Connecting the Taipei-New Taipei-Taoyuan area, passengers can transfer to the Zhonghe-Xinlu Line and the Tucheng-Shulin Line at Huilong Station in New Taipei City. At the Taoyuan end, the MRT connects to Taoyuan Railway Station and Taoyuan MRT Green Line Station via an underground passage, forming a complete transfer network.
