Rail Transit Exhibition News On the afternoon of November 10, the first train frame repair and offline activity of Foshan Metro Line 2 was successfully held at the overhaul base of Linyue Depot. Foshan Rail Transit Bureau, Municipal Finance Bureau, Chancheng District, Nanhai District, Shunde District Transportation Bureau and other relevant units attended the event to witness the key step taken by Foshan Rail Transit in core maintenance capacity building.
According to the requirements of the "Measures for the Management of the Operation and Maintenance of Urban Rail Transit Facilities and Equipment" ([2024] No. 9), the maintenance interval of subway vehicles shall not exceed 6 years or 800,000 kilometers, and the vehicle needs to be comprehensively disassembled, flaw detected and debugged of core components to restore its comprehensive performance. Foshan Metro Line 2 opened for initial operation on December 28, 2021, and as of May 16, 2025, it has accumulated more than 12.65 million kilometers of safe operation, and some trains are close to the first overhaul cycle.
On May 16, 2025, the frame repair work of the first train of Foshan Metro Line 2 was officially launched. After more than 4 months of fine maintenance, the erection repair team completed more than 300 key processes such as bogie dismantling and flaw detection, traction system in-depth overhaul, brake system debugging and calibration, and body structure strengthening to ensure that the safety performance and operating efficiency of the erection and repair electric buses meet the online operation conditions.
The completion of the independent erection and repair of the first train of Foshan Metro Line 2 is a strong verification of Foshan Metro's technical strength and maintenance system, and it is also a vivid practice of the action of "controlling costs, improving quality and efficiency" in the field of Foshan urban rail transit operation, marking a solid step forward for Foshan Metro to take a solid step towards the "independent innovation, lean and efficient" maintenance system, breaking through the bottleneck of long-term dependence on external technology, and laying an important foundation for Foshan Metro to master the core capabilities of vehicle operation and maintenance and continuously improve the quality of operation safety.
A relevant person from the Foshan Municipal Rail Transit Bureau said that the first frame repair of Foshan Metro Line 2 is an important breakthrough in Foshan's urban rail transit operation and maintenance capabilities. He stressed that rail transit as the backbone of urban transportation, equipment independent maintenance ability is the core competitiveness, and hopes that Foshan Metro will not only ensure the quality of maintenance, but also gather core technical forces, build a professional and efficient maintenance team, and continuously improve the quality management level and technical application ability of maintenance maintenance. And take this as an opportunity to continue to invest in intelligent operation and maintenance innovation technology, break through key technical bottlenecks, continuously optimize the erection and repair process, and continue to develop efficient paths to enhance safety assurance, improve service quality, and control operation and maintenance costs.
At the event site, the participants jointly cut the ribbon for the first train frame repair offline, and went deep into the maintenance area of the Linyue depot frame overhaul base, inspected the core process of the frame repair operation, and learned more about the frame repair process standards and quality control system.
At present, Foshan's urban rail transit has moved from high-speed development to high-quality development. Foshan Municipal Rail Transit Bureau will take the opportunity of the first train frame repair of Foshan Metro Line 2 to promote the development of the overhaul work in the direction of lower cost, higher efficiency and shorter stoptimes, achieve lean overhaul, implement the action goal of "controlling costs, improving quality and efficiency" in the field of Foshan urban rail transit operation, and provide safer, more reliable and convenient travel services for the general public and passengers.
