Rail Transit Exhibition News On September 2, local time, the first metro train of Bogotá Metro Line 1 made in China arrived at the port of Colombia. According to Reuters, this means that Colombia's capital, Bogotá, is one step closer to realizing its more than 80-year-old metro dream.

The train is manufactured by CRRC Frequent Visitor and departs from Qingdao Port in China on August 3. It is understood that Bogotá Line 1 is the first metro line in the Colombian capital, which was formed by a consortium composed of Chinese enterprises, with a total length of 23.96 kilometers and 16 stations, which is the largest infrastructure project in Colombia so far. After its completion, it will connect the residential and commercial areas in Bogotá, run through the urban area, and become the main line of public transportation and the main artery of passenger flow from almost half of the city in the southwest and north.
As of early July this year, the progress of the first phase of the Bogotá metro construction project has exceeded 57.5%, and the viaduct section is close to completion of 6 kilometers, and the metro is expected to start operation in March 2028
On September 2, 2025, Ambassador to Colombia Zhu Jingyang attended the reception ceremony of the first train of Bogotá Metro Line 1 and was interviewed by many local media on the spot. More than 200 people attended, including Bogotá Mayor Garland and other Colombian officials and representatives of Chinese implementing enterprises.

Ambassador Zhu warmly congratulated the first train on its arrival in Colombia and said that Chinese enterprises have overcome difficulties to build the Metro Line 1 project, and insist on teaching people to fish, transfer technology and cultivate local talents, which is a vivid example of win-win cooperation between the two countries. China is willing to give full play to its capabilities and provide greater support for Colombia's infrastructure development under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative.
In an interview, the mayor of Bogotá, Colombia, thanked China for its strong support and said that this project will change the lives of everyone in Bogotá, bring Bogotá into a new stage of history, and will remove many of our obstacles.
