Recently, at the event in Busan, South Korea, South Korea's Hyundai Rotem showcased its Edmonton, Canada, Taoyuan, Taiwan and Seoul Airport Express projectsA number of new rail transit models further demonstrate its technological achievements and project performance capabilities in the field of global urban rail vehicle manufacturing.
As part of the Valley Line West project on the Edmonton City Light Rail in Canada, Hyundai Rotem showcased a prototype of its seven-car low-floor light rail train for the project. Under the contract signed in late 2021, Hyundai Rotem will supply a total of 40 trains for the 14-kilometer, C$2.6 billion line.
Hyundai Rotem also unveiled an automated two-car train customized for Taiwan's Taoyuan MRT Green Line project. The project, which began in June 2018 with a total contract value of KRW 54.2 billion, includes the integration of signaling and power systems in addition to the train itself.
The first phase of the Taoyuan Green Line is 27.8 kilometers long and has a Y-shaped structure, connecting Kengkou and Hengshan stations of the Airport Line, and extending to the Bade area on the south side through the Taoyuan Main Line Station.
In response to the increase in passenger traffic between Seoul and Incheon International Airport, Hyundai Rotem exhibited a prototype of a six-car high-speed train built for A'REX (Incheon Airport Express Operator). The nine trains are developed and manufactured based on an order of KRW 18.1 billion signed in January 2022 and are designed to reach speeds of 150 kilometers per hour.
