On May 29, 2025, B. Delegsai Khan, a member of the Government of Mongolia and Minister of Transport. Delgersaikhan met with a delegation from the Chinese "CRRC Qiqihar Railway Vehicle Manufacturing Company" (hereinafter referred to as "Qiqihar Company") in Ulaanbaatar. The two sides conducted in-depth discussions on deepening cooperation, focusing on the possibility of cooperation in the field of railway vehicle manufacturing.
During the talks, the two sides exchanged views on cooperation opportunities such as the procurement of special railway wagons, the provision of credit support for Mongolian enterprises and self-employed people to purchase Qiqihar products and services, the establishment of railway vehicle maintenance service centers and the supply of spare parts.
Representatives from Qiqihar attended the meeting including Yu Wei, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Zhu Yonghu, First Vice President, and Bi Jijiang, Manager of Marketing and Export.
"CRRC Qiqihar" is a state-level high-tech enterprise in China, specializing in the production of more than 300 kinds of railway vehicle products, including open cars, box cars, flat cars, hopper cars, special freight cars, large freight cars, railway cranes and spare parts. The company not only meets the needs of China's domestic market, but also exports railway wagons to more than 30 countries, including Australia, New Zealand, the United States, South Korea, Brazil, Mongolia, Kazakhstan and Nigeria.
Transport Minister Ba Delegsaikhan said that the vast majority of Mongolia's railway vehicles are Russian-made and equipped with Russian-made "SA-3" automatic couplers. Due to the need to replace the "SA-3" coupler with a Chinese-made dump automatic coupler, the minister expressed his desire to share relevant research and data with Qiqihar and cooperate in coupler modification and equipment upgrades.
He also mentioned that on May 14, 2025, Mongolia officially launched the Gashun Suhaitu-Gandsmeade railway construction project, and stressed that after the completion of the project, trucks equipped with dump automatic couplers will be used, and relevant cooperation has reached a preliminary consensus with the Chinese side. In addition, the Minister made a proposal for the production and supply of railway wagons in Mongolia and the provision of local maintenance services.
At the end of the talks, the management of Qiqihar Company said that it would carefully study the proposal of the Mongolian side and promised to actively promote the implementation of cooperation.
