The city of Ulaanbaatar plans to implement 24 major projects between 2025 and 2028, of which the "Ulaanbaatar Metro" project is an important component. The first phase of the tender for the construction contractor for the construction of the metro system, a high-capacity public transport vehicle in Ulaanbaatar, was launched in October last year. On April 28, 2025, the bidding for this stage was officially opened, and a total of 27 companies from 7 countries submitted application materials. Specifically, companies from Mongolia, South Korea, the United Kingdom, Russia, France, India and China are included. Among them, 12 Chinese companies participated in the election!

In accordance with relevant regulations, the next stage of the tender will be announced on May 5. The Ulaanbaatar Metro project will stretch from Torgoy to Amgalan for 19.4 kilometers with 15 stations and a designed capacity of 17,206 passengers per hour. The average distance between stations is 1.3 km, and the one-way journey from Torgoy to Amgalan takes about 31 minutes and 25 seconds. After the successful implementation of the project, it is expected that the average speed of urban road traffic will increase by 40.4%.
