Vietnam and China signed seven important cooperation documents in the field of railways and highways

According to the latest news from the Ministry of Construction, during the state visit of Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee and President of China, to Vietnam on April 14-15, Vietnam's Minister of Construction Tran Hong Minh signed seven important cooperation documents with Chinese partners in the field of railways and highways. These include two intergovernmental international agreements, two agreements on intergovernmental official development assistance (ODA) funding and three ministerial agreements.

Su Lin, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, and Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee and President of China, witnessed the presentation of cooperation documents between the two countries

It is reported that in the field of railways, Minister Chen Hongming signed 4 documentsThese include the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Construction of Vietnam and the National Development and Reform Commission of China on the Establishment of the Vietnam-China Railway Cooperation Committee, the Minutes of the Meeting on the Technical Assistance Project for Conducting On-site Investigation and Evaluation of the Feasibility Study Report on the Lao Cai-Hanoi-Hai Phong Railway, the Exchange of Notes on the Preparation of the Plan for the Dong Dang-Hanoi, Mong Cai-Ha Long-Hai Phong Standard Gauge Railway, and the Exchange of Letters on the Preparation of the Feasibility Study Report on the Lao Cai-Hanoi-Hai Phong Railway Project.

The above-mentioned railway-related cooperation documents are of great significance and will help speed up the preparatory work for the Vietnam-China railway connection project, which is one of the important topics that the two parties and governments have paid great attention to in recent years.

Taking this opportunity, the Ministry of Construction of Vietnam also actively promoted the signing of an exchange of notes on China's assistance to Vietnam in completing the preparation of the Feasibility Study Report on the Lao Cai-Hanoi-Hai Phong Railway Project. This document is of great significance, as it lays the foundation for the relevant institutions of the two countries to coordinate the internal procedures and start the construction of the project at an early date.

In the field of highways, Minister Tran Hong Minh signed three cooperation documents, including the Agreement between the Government of Vietnam and the Government of China on the Joint Construction of the Cross-border Traffic Project of the Viet Nam Thanh Shui Port - Tien Bao Port of China, and the Protocol on Simplifying the Entry and Exit Procedures for Personnel, Vehicles, Construction Equipment and Construction Materials of the Cross-border Construction Project of the Thanh Thanh Pao Port, Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Construction of Vietnam and the Ministry of Transport of China on technical cooperation on highways.

The signing of the above-mentioned cross-border traffic engineering cooperation documents provides an important legal basis for the construction of transportation infrastructure in Ha Giang Province of Vietnam and Yunnan Province of China in the area of Qingshui-Tien Bao International Port, which will help promote border trade, meet the growing demand for the flow of people and goods, and help enhance the exchanges between the people of the two provinces and even the two countries.

In addition, the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on Highway Technical Cooperation will further strengthen cooperation between the Ministries of Construction of the two countries in highway technology, standards and specifications, technological innovation, new materials research, project management and maintenance.
