CRRC Ziyang SDD1 diesel locomotive was officially shipped to Mozambique

On March 10, the first batch of locomotive products exported from Sichuan Province in 2025 was loaded at CRRC Ziyang Locomotive Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as CRRC Ziyang Company) and officially set off for Mozambique

These locomotives are SDD1 diesel locomotives independently developed by CRRC Ziyang Company for the African application environment. This export marks that CRRC Ziyang has once again successfully expanded the African railway market and become the first Chinese company to provide diesel locomotive products to Mozambique Railways, achieving a "good start" in this year's export business.

In order to meet the special application conditions of the African market, the technical team of CRRC Ziyang Company has adopted advanced technologies such as lightweight optimized design, efficient cooling system, new corrugated louver structure and modular air intake unit, and has made a lot of innovation and adaptability improvements. At the same time, it is also equipped with an intelligent control system, which realizes real-time monitoring and accurate control of the locomotive operation status, and greatly improves the reliability and safety of the locomotive.

It is understood that this batch of SDD1 diesel locomotives will be put into passenger and freight shunting operations in Mozambique, providing strong support for local railway transportation and further continuing the strategic layout of the company to deepen the international market of the "Belt and Road".

Up to now, CRRC Ziyang has exported more than 1,200 locomotives to 34 countries around the world, accounting for more than 50% of China's total diesel locomotives exported, and is the enterprise with the largest number of diesel locomotives exported in China. Among them, in the past 24 years, it has provided more than 230 locomotives and diesel EMUs of various types to nearly 20 African countries such as Sierra Leone, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and Gabon.
