Hyundai Rotem delivered the Taoyuan MRT Green Line driverless train ahead of schedule

Rail Transit Exhibition News Hyundai Rotem recently officially delivered the first driverless train on the green line of Taiwan's Taoyuan MRT. Taoyuan Mayor Zhang Shanzheng and Hyundai Rotem President Lee Yong-pei attended the delivery ceremony.

It is reported that the train delivered this time is three months ahead of the original delivery date of March 2024. Hyundai Rotem won the bid in June 2018 for the $484 million contract, which is expected to complete the delivery of all 80 cars in 2029, which will be put into operation as a two-car train.

With a total length of 27.8 kilometers and 21 stations, the Taoyuan MRT Green Line started construction in October 2018. The line will use a fully automated driverless system (GoA4 level) to connect the southern Bade district, the city center and the Luzhu Industrial Park. After the industrial park, the line will be divided into two branches, leading to Kengkou Station and Hengshan Station respectively, both of which will interchange with the Taoyuan Airport MRT Line.

In addition to train supply, Hyundai Rotem is also responsible for the supply of rail transit systems including electromechanical equipment, communication systems, and automatic toll collection systems. The trains will use the company's self-developed Train Control and Monitoring System (TCMS), which can operate at a maximum speed of 80 km/h.

It is worth mentioning that the green line train has specially set up a special seat for smart pregnant women. When approached by a pregnant woman carrying a portable transmitter, the seat will automatically illuminate the light.
