Second only to Moscow! The world's second longest subway loop driverless subway is coming!

     On November 21, the subway train that will run on Line 12, Wuhan's first subway ring line, officially began assembly and production in Wuhan CRRC Changke Rail Vehicle Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Wuhan CRRC Changke).

With a total length of 59.9 kilometers and 37 stations, Wuhan Metro Line 12 connects the three towns of Wuhan and passes through 7 administrative regions of Wuhan City, making it the world's second longest subway loop line after the Grand Ring Line of the Moscow Metro.

According to the relevant person in charge of Wuhan CRRC Changke, after the opening of this ring line, other subway lines in Wuhan can be connected in series, and 12 transfer stations can bring greater convenience to citizens.

According to the person in charge, after Wuhan CRRC Changchun won the bid for the 79 train (474 cars) project of Line 12, the company has completed a lot of preliminary preparations, and shipped the empty car bodies from the Changchun headquarters of CRRC Changchun, "they will be assembled into finished cars in Wuhan company."

The reporter saw at the vehicle production and assembly site that a lot of empty car bodies have been placed on the production line, and dozens of workers are installing wires, electrical appliances, automatic driving and other equipment.

According to reports, this assembly line is equipped with a total of 72 workers, and it is expected that the first train will be assembled by the end of this year and officially roll off the assembly line. A total of 42 trains will be delivered next year, and the overall project will be delivered within two years.

It is worth mentioning that in response to the call for "green travel", Metro Ring Line 12 used water-based paint to coat subway cars for the first time. According to reports, the use of water-based paint is complex and the cost is relatively higher, but it is non-toxic and non-irritating, harmless to the human body, and will not pollute the environment.

Like Wuhan's first fully autonomous smart train, Wuhan Metro Line 5, the vehicles of Wuhan Metro Line 12 also adopt advanced smart subway technology, open driver's cab design, and will also be an A-type car body with a large passenger capacity.

In terms of vehicle safety, the vehicles of Wuhan Metro Line 12 are equipped with obstacle detection devices, derailment detection devices, high-end pantograph monitoring technology, running and derailment monitoring technology, battery online management system, passive obstacle detection system, and active obstacle detection system.

Compared with Wuhan Metro Line 5, another change of Line 12 is that there is an emergency evacuation door in front of the driver's cabin of each train, which is more convenient for passenger evacuation and daily safety management in case of emergency.

The reporter learned that most of the assembly parts of Metro Ring Line 12 come from the Wuhan Rail Transit Industry Innovation Base where CRRC Changchun is located. "For example, the coupler products come from Danner Wuhan, which settled last year, and the door system comes from Wuhan Kangnie." Yang Honghong, chairman of Wuhan Rail Transit Equipment Manufacturing Base Development Co., Ltd., introduced.

Through nearly three years of development and construction, at present, the Wuhan Rail Industry Innovation Base located in Huangpi District of our city has gathered national rail transit leading enterprises such as Jinchuang and New United and has gathered industrial clusters such as vehicle manufacturing, traction systems, accessories manufacturing, and intelligent maintenance, realizing the rail transit industry "research, manufacturing and repairing in the park". Up to now, the base has a total of 132 registered enterprises and 86 settled enterprises, with a total investment of 35.07 billion yuan.
