Rail Transit Exhibition News On November 29, the northern extension project of Changsha Rail Transit Line 4 officially started. This is the second rail transit line to start construction in Changsha this month after the start of the Changsha-Liuyang Maglev Express Line project.

Peng Huasong, member of the Standing Committee of the Changsha Municipal Party Committee and executive vice mayor, announced the start of the project. As a key rail transit infrastructure project in Changsha, the northern extension project of Changsha Metro Line 4 is a backbone transportation line to support the development of the waterfront new city in the sub-center of Xiangjiang New Area, Hunan Province, connect the old city of Wangcheng, strengthen the connection between the Wangcheng Gaoxing Group and the main urban areas of Hexi and Hedong, and promote the integration of Wangcheng District. The start of construction will further expand the rail transit network of Changsha, improve the level of public transportation services, optimize the urban spatial layout, and help the economic and social development of Wangcheng District, which is of positive significance for promoting the integrated construction of Changsha-Zhuzhou-Zhuhai-Tan and the implementation of the "Rise of Central China" strategy.

Changsha Metro Line 4 North Extension Project Line starts from Baimaxiang Station in Wangcheng District in the north, lays along Leifeng Avenue and Jinxing North Road, and reaches the operating Guanziling Station in the south, with a total length of about 14.88 kilometers and 10 stations, all of which are underground stations. The average station spacing is 1.50 km, the maximum station spacing is 2.36 km, which is located between Wujiachong Road Station and Xingyue North Road Station, and the minimum station spacing is 0.90 km, which is located between Baimaxiang Station and Lianjiang Road Station. The project uses a 6-car B-type car with a design maximum speed of 80 km/h. The main transformer of Purui Avenue is set up, and the control center is connected to the existing first control center.

The northern extension of Line 4 is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2028

The construction of the northern extension of Changsha Metro Line 4 will start in November 2024 and is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2028. The project will pass under the existing railway and the planned high-speed railway, and cross the existing operating subway line, and the entire line will cross the water system for a long distance, with many pipelines along the line and complex engineering geological conditions. The section between Xingyue North Road Station and Guanziling Station will pass under the subgrade section of the Shichang Railway and the elevated section of the planned Chongqing-Changxia High-speed Railway. At the same time, it will also pass underneath and sideways through the shield section of the entry and exit section of Line 4. In addition, the water system along the project is very developed, the east side is close to the Xiangjiang River, the north side is close to the Weishui River, and the water system of Zebra Lake, Zhangjia Lake, Maqiao River and Daze Lake is passed down in turn, and the water system is complex and long. The project is mainly laid along Leifeng Avenue and Jinxing North Road, and there are many high-voltage corridors, gas pipelines, rain and sewage mains, communications, electricity, street lights and other pipelines along the line.

According to the survey, there are more silt layers and silty soil layers in the whole reservoir, and the surface water in the area is abundant mainly for Weishui, Majiahe, Lotus Pond Skimming Canal, Zhangjia Lake, Zebra Lake, etc., and the possibility of sand liquefaction in the parking lot is greater, and the bedrock exposed by the site is mainly granite, and the granite strata may have spherical weathering. It is the focus and difficulty of this project to determine the distribution range and characteristics of soft soil, the hydrogeological conditions of the surface water development area, the scope and grade of sand liquefaction, the distribution range and characteristics of granite spherical weathering body and ground residual soil.

After the northern extension of Changsha Metro Line 4 and the first phase of Line 4 are put into operation, it will connect Wangcheng District, Yuelu District, Tianxin District, Yuhua District and Changsha County, passing through Wangcheng Waterfront New Town, Binjiang New Town, Rongwan Town Commercial Center, Yuelu Mountain University Town, Nanhu New Town, Sports New Town, High-speed Rail New Town, Huanglang Sub-center and other important functional centers and hub areas, forming a core traffic artery of Changsha City's main urban area radiating to the northwest and southeast. It will not only shorten the time and space distance between Wangcheng District and the central urban area, but also play a positive role in supporting and promoting the development of Wangcheng District, Waterfront New Town Area, Daze Lake Area and other areas. At that time, residents along the Wangcheng District will quickly integrate into the main urban area through the subway, and the radiation scope of the "half-hour traffic circle" of Changsha rail will be further expanded.
