China-Brazil friendship has forged rail love, and Chinese enterprises will jointly build the future

São Paulo Intercity Railway North Axis Project: Efficient Connectivity to the Metropolitan Area

On May 29, 2024, CRRC and the government of the State of São Paulo officially signed a concession contract for the São Paulo Intercity Railway North Axis Project. The 101-kilometre-long project connects the three metropolitan areas of São Paulo, Jundiaí and Campinas, and is expected to serve 15 million people, making it the fastest and most modern intercity railway in Brazil.

The project covers infrastructure retrofits, new construction, vehicle procurement, and operation and maintenance. The construction of the project not only optimizes the local transportation structure, but also directly creates 10,000 jobs and drives regional economic development.

On August 12, China General Signal International Holdings successfully won the bid for the general contracting project of signal system supply and integration installation of the North Axis Project of the Sao Paulo Intercity Railway in Brazil. The project will adopt the ETCS-2 level train control system with independent intellectual property rights of China General Number.

On May 28, 2024, in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil, CRRC Changchun Railway Coach Co., Ltd. signed a contract for the supply of 24 autonomous metro trains. The train can reach speeds of up to 80 kilometers per hour and will serve the Belo Horizonte Metro Line 1 and Line 2 under construction.

Expected to be delivered in early 2026, these modern metro trains mark an important step towards the development of intelligent and low-carbon urban rail transit in Brazil, while significantly easing the pressure on local traffic.

São Paulo Metro Line 2 Project: Chinese Technology Demonstrates International Strength

The São Paulo Metro Line 2 project, which PowerChina participated in the construction, is one of the most important rail transit construction projects in Brazil. The metro line not only improves the efficiency of urban transportation, but also won the "Best and Largest Project Award in Brazil" on September 22, 2024, demonstrating the international engineering strength of Chinese companies.

The FIOL railway project, an important logistics project in central Brazil, was undertaken by China Railway Tenth Bureau. The length of the line is 126 kilometers, located in the state of Bahia, with a total investment of about 219 million US dollars. After the completion of the project, it will significantly improve the transportation efficiency of mineral and agricultural products, help Brazil expand commodity exports, and inject strong impetus into regional economic development.
