After a 18,000-kilometer voyage from Brazil to Taiwan, the new combined train of the Wanda Line marks a key step towards the goal of opening the Wanda Line. The MRT Engineering Bureau held the unveiling ceremony of the arrival of the first electric combined train at Jincheng Machinery Factory.
The Banda Line is about 22 kilometers long and is planned to be constructed in two phases. The first phase will pass through Zhongzheng District and Wanhua District of Taipei City, as well as Zhongyonghe District and Tucheng District of New Taipei City, making it more convenient for residents along the line. According to the MRT, a total of 35 intermodal trains were purchased in the first and second phases, which were produced by the French company Alstom in Brazil, in the form of steel wheels and rails, and the body was made of stainless steel, and each train could carry 700 people. In order to reduce noise and vibration, some of the trains in the underground section are designed with vibration-damping wheels.
The first phase of the Wanda Line is expected to open to traffic in 2027. The design and appearance of the train was voted on, and the "vibrant" water blue ripple pattern was finally chosen, symbolizing the Xindian River and Dahan River through which the Banda Line passed.
