This marks that the new signaling system has taken the "baton" and successfully realized the localization of the old foreign system, which will provide citizens with better travel services.
The first phase of Changsha Metro Line 2 was put into operation in 2014 and is the first line in Changsha to open for operation, connecting Changsha South High-speed Railway Station, Changsha Railway Station and other transportation hubs and core business districts and popular attractions such as Wuyi Square, Orange Island and Yuelu Mountain. From 2021 to 2024, the passenger volume of Changsha Line 2 has exceeded one million in a single day during the "May Day" and "National Day" holidays for four consecutive years, making it one of the busiest subway lines in the country, putting forward higher requirements for the stability of key equipment systems and service quality.

Due to the cessation of investment and product updates by the original foreign manufacturers of the signal system of Changsha Line 2, the original signal system model was discontinued, and it was difficult to purchase spare parts, which led to difficulties in operation and maintenance, brought hidden dangers to the safe operation of trains, and could not meet the requirements of the current high passenger flow for operational efficiency. At the same time, in order to meet the development needs of intelligent urban rail, realize the operation and management of smart subways such as line-network-level interconnection, intelligent operation and maintenance, and intelligent scheduling, and let the old lines glow with new kinetic energy and improve the efficiency of operation and maintenance through functional upgrading and transformation, Changsha City has launched the upgrading and reconstruction project of Changsha Line 2, aiming to realize the localization, replacement, upgrading and quality improvement of the signal system through the technical means of "non-inductive" transformation. CRRC Zhuzhou Times Electric responded positively and successfully won the bid for the Changsha 2 renovation project in 2021, and officially started on-site construction on May 31, 2022. The whole project has gone through four phases of on-site operations, the first stage is outdoor construction, which needs to complete the construction of the ground cable of the 26-kilometer-long double-positive tunnel; The second stage is the indoor construction of the section, which needs to complete the assembly of cabinets arranged in 23 stations of the whole line; The third stage is the backcut commissioning, which needs to complete the backcut control of a total of 282 sets of eight kinds of used equipment; The fourth stage is the commissioning of the new system EMU, which needs to complete more than 2,300 professional tests. Finally, after unremitting efforts, the project successfully completed the pre-operation safety assessment on September 3, 2024, and completed the one-time backcut of the whole line in October 2024, realizing the opening and operation of the fully autonomous signaling system. Upgrading the signaling system is equivalent to a surgical operation on the brain, which is more difficult than the traditional new line. In order not to affect the normal operation of the existing line, the project does not change the existing civil engineering content under the condition of fully reusing the old, and does not reduce the capacity of the existing line, does not shorten the operation service time, and all the construction and commissioning tasks are completed during the night skylight period from 00:00 to 05:30, so as to realize the real "non-inductive" transformation of passengers. "Multi-faceted Innovation, Continuous Breakthrough" As the first urban rail signal system transformation project of CRRC Zhuzhou Times Electric, Changsha 2 Reform Project has achieved innovative breakthroughs in many aspects. Technological innovation CRRC Zhuzhou Times Electric integrates and applies leading new technologies at home and abroad, such as multi-layer redundant positioning, multi-professional integrated bearer communication, interconnection and information innovation, to realize the non-disturbing replacement and upgrading of foreign equipment by the fully independent and localized CBTC signal system, and at the same time completely get rid of the technical dependence of the existing line on foreign manufacturers, provide comprehensive technical support and spare parts guarantee for the safe operation of the line, and set an industry benchmark. Project implementation In the whole cycle of project implementation, CRRC Zhuzhou Times Electric actively integrates the wisdom of the industry, invites senior experts for in-depth guidance for many times, and innovatively adopts the three-level refined scheme system such as "one station one plan" and "one plan per day", so as to achieve accurate refinement from the plan formulation stage to ensure the full realization of the overall design objectives of the project, and is the first transformation project in China to achieve the precise landing of "fine construction". By innovatively adopting the organizational model of construction according to the process and following the principle of "outdoor first and then indoor", the safety risks in the construction process and the impact on the operation of the existing lines are greatly reduced, and no incidents affecting the safety or the operation of the existing lines have occurred during the implementation of the project. Through the customization of "V-shaped" skylights, vertical skylights and major construction work schedules and other operation organizations, and at the same time the adoption of the "centralized repair" mode and the optimization of the vehicle inspection process, more valuable time for night operations has been won, the effective operation time of the sunroof point has been extended by 30%, and the overall operation efficiency has been increased by more than 50%, and all EMU commissioning tasks have been completed within 284 hours of the project, and "zero" shutdown, "zero" station closure, "zero" train return and "zero" safety accidents have been achieved. The Changsha 2 renovation project successfully completed a one-time backcut and realized the initial operation of the new signal system, marking that Changsha Line 2 has completely got rid of its dependence on foreign technology and solved the problems of insufficient supply of spare parts for foreign core equipment and difficulties in safe operation and maintenance. Under the premise that the main civil engineering of the tunnel and the equipment room has not been altered, the project follows the principle of full reuse, and only localizes the signal core equipment, which greatly reduces the project cost. After the upgrade of the new system, the future Changsha Metro lines can be networked, meet the requirements of train resource sharing and intelligent scheduling of different lines, provide support for building Changsha Smart City, and promote the implementation of new quality productivity in the urban rail transit industry.
