Recently, the Dubai Road Transport Authority (RTA) showed a model of one such metro station, and the upcoming Dubai metro station on the Blue Line will have a sleek, futuristic design. The design of the station features a smooth arc structure, with the main platform surrounded by a large oval arch structure that covers the tracks. This design differs from the fully enclosed stations currently used on the Red and Green lines.
The side structure with exits on both sides also has a modern, symmetrical aesthetic and curved design. The official video presentation shows how the Blue Line will serve Dubai's most densely populated areas, including Mirdif, International City and Academic City.
One of the most notable features of the line is the 1,300-metre-long viaduct that will support the viaduct across Dubai Creek, connecting Al Jaddaf with Dubai Festival City and Dubai Creek Harbour. This new connection is expected to significantly reduce travel times for commuters.
The 30-kilometre-long Blue Line, which will be completed in 2029, will also be a key integration point between the existing Red Line and the Green Line. The development is part of the broader Dubai 2040 City Master Plan, which aims to create a '20-minute city' that ensures residents have access to around 80% of essential services within a 20-minute walk.
At the same time, Dubai Metro also released a new technology for the intelligent maintenance system.
The system collects data through smart sensors installed in various carriages to provide continuous insight into track conditions. Based on this, the system will be able to detect maintenance needs and classify them into five categories based on the severity of the problem.
"It's a physics-based, data-driven model," said Prabhakaran Balasubramanian, one of the researchers, · Prabhakaran Balasubramanian. "With artificial intelligence, we can check for issues such as sand contamination, track stiffness, and broken sleepers. Even with an accuracy rate of only 50%, maintenance costs can be significantly reduced. ”
