Rail Transit Exhibition News Korea Railway Corporation recently announced that it has successfully developed a new sound insulation technology suitable for ultra-high-speed railways with speeds of more than 400 kilometers per hour. This technology is designed to effectively reduce the noise generated by high-speed trains and create a more peaceful living environment for residents along the line.
At the heart of the new technology is the improved structure of the acoustic blocks near the tracks. Compared with the prior art, the new sound insulation block has the following characteristics:
Optimization of sound insulation structure: The new sound insulation block is composed of multiple functional areas, including sound absorption, complete, shell and non-porous solid wood. This composite structure can more effectively absorb and block the sound waves generated by the operation of the train.
Material innovation: Special sound-absorbing materials are used to better capture and reduce sound wave energy.
Shape design: The shape of the sound insulation block is carefully designed to guide sound waves into the sound-absorbing structure and improve the sound-absorbing efficiency.
Installation improvements: The connection between the new acoustic block and the track has been optimized to better block sound wave propagation.
ACCORDING TO KORAIL, THE TECHNOLOGY HAS PERFORMED WELL IN LABORATORY TESTS, EFFECTIVELY REDUCING NOISE LEVELS AT ULTRA-HIGH SPEEDS OF UP TO 400 KM/H. Compared to the existing technology, the new noise barrier can reduce the noise of train operation by about 20%.The technology can be used in a wide range of applications, not only for new ultra-high-speed railway lines, but also for upgrading existing lines. KORAIL plans to promote the use of this technology in future railway construction and renovation projects to improve the environmental performance of railway operations.
