Founded in 1896, Southwest Jiaotong University is China's first institution of higher learning for engineering education, and the birthplace of higher education in China's civil engineering, mining and metallurgical engineering, and traffic engineering. Introduction to the laboratory

The State Key Laboratory of Rail Transit Carrier System was reorganized with the approval of the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Education on the basis of the original State Key Laboratory of Traction Power (approved for establishment in 1989 and the first State Key Laboratory in the field of rail transit in China). For more than 30 years, the laboratory has been bravely undertaking the mission of "transportation power", focusing on the national strategy and major needs of the development of advanced rail transit equipment, building and improving the applied basic research platform for the modernization of rail transit equipment, and playing an irreplaceable role in the development process of China's railway speed, high speed and heavy load.
The laboratory has given birth to the "Shen Theory" and "Zhai Method", which have been widely used in the field of international rail transit dynamics, and has cultivated a number of academic masters, scientific research elites and industry leaders, including Shen Zhiyun, Qian Qingquan, Zhai Wanming, etc. The laboratory has a team of more than 100 full-time teachers with academicians, Changjiang scholars and outstanding young scholars as academic leaders, young and middle-aged teachers as the backbone, and more than 850 doctoral and master's students.

The laboratory focuses on the dynamics and control of rail transit system, the design and reliability of rail vehicles, the traction transmission and control of trains, the service safety and intelligent operation and maintenance of the delivery system, and carries out cutting-edge, basic research and core technological innovation, and has been approved to build the Basic Science Center of the National Natural Science Foundation of China for "Modern Railway Dynamics and Carrying Safety", and has won 10 national science and technology awards (including 2 first prizes), and 4 achievements have been selected as "Top Ten Scientific and Technological Advances in Chinese Colleges and Universities". In the past three years, more than 600 million yuan of scientific research funds have been received. The discipline of "Traffic and Transportation Engineering" with the laboratory as the main support has ranked first (A+) in the country for 20 consecutive years and entered the national "double first-class" construction sequence.

The laboratory has established the 111 Intelligence Introduction Base of "Rail Transit Engineering Dynamics" and the International Cooperation Joint Laboratory of "Rail Transit Engineering Dynamics". Founded the International Rail Transit Conference (ICRT), which has been successfully held for 2 sessions; It has founded international academic journals related to rail transit, such as International Journal of Rail Transportation and Railway Engineering Science, which provides a broad stage for international academic exchanges. The laboratory has become an international academic highland in the field of rail transit.
In the future, the laboratory will focus on the development of basic theories and core technologies such as high-speed and higher-speed trains, heavy-haul and high-speed freight trains, high-speed and ultra-high-speed maglev transportation, traction braking in complex environments, etc., to form a dynamic design and control theory system for rail transit carrier systems with higher speed/larger load/safer/more efficient rail transit carriers, establish a rail transit environment-friendly optimization design theory, and develop perfect traction power system measurement and control and test methods. Break through the key technologies of design, manufacturing and maintenance of rail transit equipment and its core components, improve the service safety level and application efficiency of rail transit transportation systems, support the safe operation of existing railways and the construction of major national projects, and lead the development of rail transit science and technology in the future.
