Typhoon Gemei brought heavy rain to the southern region. Last Thursday (July 25), the water level of the Bazhangxi Railway Bridge reached the warning value, and in the afternoon, the water of the Gene Creek on the east-west line swelled and overflowed, and it was washed out and hollowed out. The Chiayi Public Works Section of the Public Works Office of the Taiwan Railway immediately set up an emergency repair working group and cooperated with the Fifth River Branch of the Water Resources Department to launch the emergency repair plan.
Transport Minister Lee Mang-yan inspected the emergency repair work of the damaged route on Sunday (July 28) and immediately visited the site after listening to a briefing by the general manager of the Taiwan Railway Corporation, Feng Huisheng.
Li Mengyan said that before the resumption of traffic, 80 tour buses will be arranged to ensure that passengers can continue to use the Taiwan Railway.
As the water along the coast began to recede last Saturday (July 27), the construction of emergency repair machinery began, and the finishing of the sidewalks and the backfilling of the space bag were completed. Last Sunday (July 28), the rush repair work will speed up the layered laying of steel sheet piles and backfilling the roadbed. It is expected that the subgrade grading filling and steel sheet pile protection laying operations will be completed before Tuesday (July 30), and the power line equipment and communication signal cables will be put into trial operation on Wednesday (July 31), and it is expected that the Dongzheng line will be rushed through on Wednesday (July 31), and the single-line two-way operation will be resumed on August 1.
