The new urban smart fast rail train debuted

Rail Transit Exhibition News On June 13, the new urban smart fast rail train independently developed by CRRC Qingdao Sifang Locomotive and Rolling Stock Co., Ltd. was exhibited at the event and made its debut. The car is called the "subway on the road" and offers a new solution for urban mobility.

The unveiled smart fast rail train is 30 meters long, with a maximum operating speed of 70 kilometers per hour, equipped with advanced sensing equipment such as lidar and binocular cameras, and has high-precision perception capabilities, which can be driven manually and can also realize full-scene autonomous driving. The vehicle is designed to be lightweight, the weight is greatly reduced, and advanced technologies such as permanent magnet traction, efficient thermal management system, inverter air conditioning, and time-varying lighting are applied to reduce the operating energy consumption, and the energy consumption per kilometer is only 3 to 4 kWh.

Liu Yuwen, deputy director of the technology center of CRRC Sifang Co., Ltd., introduced that unlike traditional urban rail transit systems such as subways and trams, smart fast rail trains are an electronically guided rubber-tyred tram system. The car replaces the steel wheel with rubber wheels, through the existing road surface to draw guide markings or embedded magnetic nails, the use of "optical recognition" or "permanent magnet induction" technology, intelligent perception, prediction of running trajectory, to achieve automatic tracking navigation, so as to accurately control the train on the "virtual track".

The smart fast rail does not need to lay physical tracks, and at the same time uses power batteries, hydrogen fuel, supercapacitors, etc. as power sources, and does not need to erect catenary power supply, so it realizes "no network in the sky and no track underground". It can effectively use the existing road resources of the city, and has the advantages of short construction period, low cost, easy relocation, large transportation volume and long life.

Liu Yuwen introduced that as a new type of low- and medium-volume urban rail transit system, the application scenarios of smart fast rail are diverse, which can be used as a feeder line for large cities, the backbone line of small and medium-sized cities, and as an urban tourism route, providing a new green and intelligent solution for urban transportation.
