On the occasion of the golden jubilee of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and the People's Republic of China, Malaysian Transport Minister Loke Siew Hock will lead a delegation to start a four-day visit to China from June 6 to 9, 2024.

The next day, Loke departed from Hong Kong for Hunan to pay courtesy of the Hunan Provincial Government and attend the unveiling ceremony of the new high-speed metre-gauge train (ETS3 electric train) of the Malaysian Railways Board (KTMB) held at the locomotive plant of CRRC Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Co., Ltd. (CRRC) in Hunan.

The 10 new six-car trains, produced by CRRC, will arrive in Malaysia from early 2025 to further enhance the service and capacity of the Malayan Railways Dual Rail (ETS) train between Johor Bahru and Padang Besar Perlis.

Finally, on 8 and 9 June, Loke and the delegation will visit the Zhengzhou Airport Economic Comprehensive Experimental Zone in the capital city of Henan Province to explore a new partnership for high-end air cargo business between Malaysia and China.

Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Chinese state-owned enterprise Henan Zhongyu Airport Group on the "Air Silk Road – China-Malaysia Air Cargo Hub Project".

On the basis of mutual benefit and win-win results, Malaysia is committed to continuing to deepen exchanges and cooperation with China in various transportation fields, and jointly build investments to promote the connectivity between China and Southeast Asia.
