Recently, MTR announced that the Disney Line asset renewal plan includes the purchase of three new four-car trains equipped with battery-powered equipment and the replacement of the signaling system, which is targeted to be put into service in 2028.

MTR said that for the first time, it will introduce a new type of train equipped with a battery-powered function, which can be charged without the need for overhead cable power to drive and operate. These features will provide greater flexibility for the MTR in further designing train operations.
