Korea's fastest new high-speed train, KTX-Blue Dragon, was born! Starts operation in May!

South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol recently delivered an important speech at the 20th anniversary ceremony of KTX opening held at the headquarters of Korea Railway Corporation in Daejeon. 2024 marks the 125th anniversary of the opening of the Korean railway, the 50th anniversary of the opening of the subway, and the 20th anniversary of the opening of the high-speed railway. He emphasized that this series of commemorative events will promote South Korea's rail transit to a new height and open a new chapter for the development of rail transit.

The South Korean government plans to put KTX-Cheongyong into the Gyeongbu Line and Honam Line from May this year, and expand the rapid trains that shorten the travel time by up to 30 minutes. Yoon Suk-yeol also said that if the Pyeongtaek-Osong dual line is completed in 2028, it will lay a solid foundation for increasing the number of express trains. He said that KTX-Qinglong will provide impetus for regional development and create a more convenient life.

Yoon Suk-yeol also pledged to expand the high-speed rail network to the whole country, realize a nationwide two-hour living circle, and complete the project of direct KTX from Incheon and Suwon to Busan and Mokpo during his tenure. At the same time, he announced that the Andong-Yongcheon section, the final section of the Chuo Line that crosses the central part of the country, will be opened by the end of this year.
