3599 columns! China’s EMU “Big Data” in 2023

As of the end of 2023, China Railways has been equipped with a total of 3,599 EMUs , equivalent to 4,133.625 standard groups (8-car grouping is a standard group) , an increase of 139 and 142 groups respectively compared with the end of 2022. The actual number of standard EMUs assigned to the entire railway has exceeded 4000 sets mark. Among them, there are 2,143 300~350km/h EMUs, accounting for approximately 59.54% of the total number of EMUs in the country; a total of 1,388 200~250km/h EMUs, accounting for approximately 38.57% of the total number of EMUs in the country; and 68 160km/h EMUs, Accounting for approximately 1.89% of the total number of EMUs in the country. A total of 929 Fuxing EMUs have been assigned (excluding EMUs), accounting for approximately 25.81% of the total number of EMUs in the country . China's railway EMU allocation continues to increase. (This article does not include centralized power multiple units, including Hong Kong and Taiwan, China)

From the perspective of vehicle models, the 200~250km/h EMUs currently officially distributed across the road include CRH1A, CRH1A-A, CRH1B, CRH1E, CRH2A, CRH2B, CRH2E, CRH2G, CRH3A, CRH3A- A , CRH5A, CRH5E , CRH5G, CRH6A , CRH6A-A, CR300AF and CR300BF , a total of 17 models are in use ; the officially assigned 300km/h EMUs include CRH2C, CRH3C, CRH380A, CRH380AN, CRH380AL, CRH380B, CRH380BG, CRH380BL, CRH380CL, CRH380D, CR400AF, CR400AF-A, CR400AF-B, CR400AF-C, CR400AF-G, CR400AF-Z, CR400AF-AZ, CR400AF-BZ, CR400BF, CR400BF-A, CR400BF-B, CR400BF-C, CR400BF-G, CR400BF-Z, CR400BF-AZ, CR400BF-BZ and CR400BF-GZ have a total of 27 models in use . Compared with the end of 2022, one model, CR400AF-AZ, has been added . The officially assigned 160km/h EMUs include CRH6F, CRH6F-A and CJ6, with a total of 3 models in use . There are a total of 47 passenger models on the road.
