Rail Transit Exhibition News The China-Laos Engineering College, jointly built by Shanghai Institute of Technology and Suphanuphon University in Laos, was officially inaugurated in Shanghai on the 25th. The institute will focus on cultivating innovative international talents in the field of railway engineering required by the Lan (Cangjiang) and Mekong (Gong) River basins and related ASEAN countries.

Chen Jing, Deputy Director of the Standing Committee of the Shanghai Municipal People's Congress and President of the Shanghai People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, said that the China-Laos Institute of Engineering is a place for China and Laos to carry out more exchanges and cooperation at more levels and higher levels in railways and related fields, and is expected to become a new platform for China and Laos to carry out more cross-border innovation cooperation in the future.
Vela · Anora, President of Suphanufong University in Laos, said that Suphanufong University has arranged more than 30 students to study at Shanghai Institute of Technology in recent years, and the two sides jointly build the China-Laos Engineering College, which will help promote more different forms of educational cooperation and friendly exchanges between Laos and China.

Guo Qingsong, Secretary of the Party Committee of Shanghai Institute of Technology, said that the China-Laos College of Engineering is the latest practice of Shanghai Institute of Technology to explore "application-oriented higher education going abroad". In the future, the China-Laos Institute of Engineering will arrange teachers from Shanghai Institute of Technology to teach railway engineering courses at Suphanufong University in Laos in the form of "customized courses", so as to further promote talent training, scientific research cooperation and cultural exchanges between the two sides, and promote the deepening and practical cooperation between China and Laos in railway engineering higher education.
According to Wang Xiaofan, President of Shanghai Institute of Technology, Shanghai Institute of Technology will cooperate with the National University of Laos and Suphanufong University in the future to create an international application and innovative scientific and technological talent training model of "school-enterprise collaboration and integration of industry and education".
In 2009, Shanghai Institute of Technology established the School of Rail Transit, and participated in the preliminary survey, design, consulting and construction inspection of the China-Laos Railway. Since 2018, Laotian universities have sent students to Shanghai Institute of Technology to study railway-related professional knowledge, and Shanghai Institute of Technology has established the first "China-Laos Railway Boutique Class" in China to train localized senior railway technical talents for the Belt and Road countries. In 2021, Shanghai Institute of Technology established the Belt and Road Lancang-Mekong Railway Connectivity Center and was approved to establish the Shanghai International Joint Laboratory for China-Laos Railway Engineering along the Belt and Road. Now, along the Laos section of the China-Laos Railway, Laotian students trained by Shanghai Institute of Technology have begun to show their skills. (ENDS)
