Rail Transit Exhibition News Singapore announced that the 64 older trains on the Metro Ring Line have been added with rubber strips to narrow the gap between the train and the platform, and the installation work will be completed next year.

Responding to media queries on Monday (March 18), a spokesman for the Land Transport Authority said that 24 of the 64 older trains on the MRT Circle Line have been fitted with rubber strips, and the authorities aim to complete the retrofitting of another 40 trains by the end of 2025.

The length of the gap between the train and the platform varies from metro line to metro line

Since 1997, the Land Transport Bureau has successively installed rubber filling strips on the edges of the subway station platforms on the ground of the North-South and East-West Lines, reducing the gap to 75 mm. Based on the screen door of the underground station platform, the Land Transport Bureau cannot adopt the same practice. With the advancement of technology, the new subway line was later replaced by rubber strips on the trains. But whether this will reduce the problem of stuck, we will wait and see.
