Introduction to related projects

Lao Cai-Hanoi-Hai Phong railway project

According to the plan, the Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong railway has a track gauge of 1,435 mm, starting from Lao Cai station and ending at Lach Huyen port - Hai Phong.

The total length of the project is about 388 kilometers, and the railway connecting Hekou (China) to Lao Cai (Viet Nam) is 5.6 kilometers long; eastward through 8 provinces and cities including Lao Cai, An Bai, Phu Thu, Vinh Phuc, Hanoi, Hung Yen, Hai Duong and Hai Phong; The end point is Lach Huyen Port (Haiphong).

There are 73 extra-large bridges, 25 kilometers of tunnels, 25 tunnels and 38 stations with a total length of more than 130 kilometers, including 29 new stations. The railway is expected to operate passenger and freight transportation, with a total investment of about $1 billion to $11 billion.

The long-term transport capacity of the route is forecast at 10 million tons of cargo/year, operating 15 pairs of vessels/day.

Hanoi-Lang Son Railway Project

Dong Dang Station is the last station of the Gia Lam (Hanoi)-Lang Son railway line and is a particularly important station connecting the international intermodal railway to Ping Tong Station (China).

The double-track railway runs from Lang Son to Hanoi with a total length of about 167 kilometers and 21 stations along the line; The maximum throughput capacity can run 19 pairs of trains day and night.

The infrastructure at the Dongdeng port is considered degraded and disproportionate to its potential and strengths. Therefore, the issue of renovating, upgrading or constructing a new Hanoi-Dong Dang railway line is urgent.

At present, China is studying pro bono assistance to help Viet Nam survey and develop a detailed plan for the Lang Son to Hanoi standard gauge railway.

Mong Cai-Ha Long-Hanoi Railway Project

The People's Republic of China State Administration for Development Cooperation's "Mong Cai-Ha Long-Hanoi Standard Gauge Railway Planning and Feasibility Study" technical assistance project will open up a new route connecting Mong Cai Port to the capital of Hanoi, creating momentum for the development of trade in goods, exports and tourism.

There is no specific information yet on the railway project from Mong Cai to Ha Long to connect Hanoi, however, according to the railway network planning for the period 2021 to 2030, and the vision until 2050, 3 separate railway lines are planned in the area of Quang Ninh province.

Among them, the first line is An Wen-Palai-Ha Long-Cai Lan, with a total length of 129 kilometers and a track gauge of 1,000 mm and 1,435 mm respectively, with an investment roadmap to 2030. (This railway line is under construction).

The second route is Ha Long-Mong Cai, with an estimated length of 150 km and a road distance of 1,435 mm, with a post-2030 investment roadmap.

The third route is Nam Dinh - Thai Binh - Hai Phong - Quang Ninh, with an estimated length of 101 km and a road distance of 1,435 mm, with a post-2030 investment roadmap.

Therefore, if you invest in the Mong Cai-Ha Long-Hanoi railway, the length will be close to 280 km.

At present, the Chinese side has built a railway line from the city. Fengqing to the city. Dong Xing belongs to the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and is only a few kilometers away from Mong Cai Port in Quang Ninh Province.
