Rail Transit Exhibition News Recently, the results of the 13th "Longtu Cup" National BIM Competition were announced, and the "Digital Construction Management Application of BIM Technology in the First Bid Section of the First Phase of Qingdao Metro Line 9" organized by the First Construction Branch of Qingdao Metro Group won the first prize of the construction group, which is the only construction project of Qingdao Metro and the second construction project of Shandong Rail Transit Project to win this award. It is reported that the award-winning project relies on the integrated platform of Qingdao Metro's smart construction site to review and manage the BIM model of the whole life cycle, ensure the improvement of design quality, control of the construction process, and the transfer of completed assets, realize the systematic application of BIM technology in the whole line, all specialties and the whole process, and form a set of theoretical system and practical methods for digital rail transit construction.

Zhengyang Middle Road Station is the fifth station of the first phase of Line 9, with a total length of 155 meters. It interchanges with Line 7 in a "T" shape and connects with Line 1 with a maximum connection length of 38.25 meters, and is only 18 meters away from the Line 1 station. The station has 3 entrances and exits and 3 groups of wind pavilions; The length of the ground wall is about 34-36 meters, and the depth of the hole is about 36-38 meters. The engineering geology is complex, the surrounding pipelines are near, the buildings are near, the working face is scattered, and the multi-disciplinary intersection is a very challenging task, and the high-quality construction of the 32.5-meter ultra-deep foundation pit construction project can be said to be a very challenging work.

The "challenge" of such a difficult construction is inseparable from the professional team and technology, and it is also thanks to the BIM+4D construction progress simulation. "The maximum effective spacing between the excavation of the foundation pit of our station is 2.8 meters. The depth of the foundation pit is 32.5 meters, which is an ultra-deep foundation pit and has low excavation efficiency. Therefore, from the design to the application of construction depth, we use BIM+4D technology to convert 2D drawings into 3D drawings, so we can do 'what you see is what you get', in the construction process, the BIM model is positioned in millimeters, 1:1 superimposed on the construction site, visual guidance of on-site construction and auxiliary progress, quality management of the two main lines, quantitative simulation of the design scheme before construction' Rehearsal', we sort out the major difficulties in each process, and carry out targeted construction rehearsal to assist in the review and optimization of the scheme. Using the characteristics of BIM visualization, simulate key construction processes and construction methods, maximize the control of construction progress, quality and safety risks, and reduce the construction period and cost pressure caused by on-site rework. Through BIM+4D construction progress simulation, it can be intuitively seen whether the control method of the main construction, whether the construction arrangement is balanced, whether the overall plan is basically reasonable, etc., so as to adjust the process at each stage in time to achieve the expected purpose of shortening the construction period, reducing costs and improving quality.

Qingdao Metro Line 9 BIM technology in the construction application also has a "unique skill", that is, "BIM + VR" technology, the systematic BIM platform can be the architectural design process information, three-dimensional, and at the same time strengthen the project management ability of the construction process.
"In layman's terms, BIM splits the construction process into several parts according to different stages to simulate, forming animations ranging from a few minutes to more than ten minutes. Problems also encountered in modeling, such as pipeline process conflicts, construction period conflicts, etc., can be avoided in construction, which greatly improves construction efficiency. Li Zhuang, the owner's representative of the 04 work area of the first bid section of the construction of Line 9, introduced that the "BIM+VR" technology can also finely implement millisecond differential blasting to ensure the efficiency and safety of on-site earthwork excavation.
"Relying on BIM model + VR process simulation, the workers are visualized to ensure that the ready-made construction is formed at one time. It can realize the construction with information simulation in advance, which improves the predictability of engineering construction, presents the construction process sequence and process in the form of animation, makes the construction more coherent, and improves the construction efficiency. Li Zhuang introduced that although the excavation of Yuhuangling Station is difficult and the structure is complex, the construction is simulated based on the BIM platform + VR, and the mechanical and excavation methods are determined to be used to achieve a comprehensive optimization of the construction period of 60 days, and the utilization rate of project BIM data is as high as 90%.


Constructing the "Qingdao Model" of Intelligent Construction Development


The Yuhuangling Station, which is under construction of the main structure, has a huge amount of work and complicated construction procedures. BIM is like a "baton", and building a model before construction can solve difficulties in advance. At the same time, with the help of the intelligent construction site integration platform, intelligent collaborative management is realized, and 51 sub-modules of 10 major sectors are set up to update the project construction status in real time and provide decision-making basis for the group's construction management department. In addition, the "smart construction site" can also realize environmental and other aspects of monitoring and management, with automatic alarm function, real-time grasp of on-site information such as noise, dust, sewage discharge and so on.
Nowadays, BIM technology is widely used in the construction of the first phase of Metro Line 9, led by the construction unit, forming a working mode of "leading group decision-making, implementation group coordination, and business department organization". BIM is used as a carrier to integrate all kinds of data throughout the life cycle, improve the quality of design and construction, and build digital assets. At the same time, oblique photography and dense point cloud matching are used to obtain engineering project and urban environment information. Through data collection and management, the smart construction site integration platform realizes comprehensive analysis of safety risks, construction quality, construction progress, etc., and comprehensively improves the construction of the project in an all-round and full construction life cycle.
It is reported that the "Longtu Cup" is a national comprehensive BIM industry authoritative event held by the China Graphics Society under the support and guidance of the China Association for Science and Technology, China Academy of Building Research, Tsinghua University, Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics and other relevant units, and has a high industry influence. This award is a refinement and summary of Qingdao Metro's BIM application achievements, and also provides valuable experience for the BIM planning and implementation of follow-up projects, which will further encourage Qingdao Metro to explore, research and apply BIM planning and implementation, better provide information technology support for subway construction, provide basic guarantee for the realization of smart rail transit and smart city, and contribute to the construction of a world-class subway.
